Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Aluminum Matrix Composites Reinforced With In-Situ TiB2 Particles

The present article investigates the microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 matrix composite reinforced with TiB 2 particles synthesized by salt metal reaction as-cast T6 state. Microscopic observations prepared composites reveal that in-situ grown are characterized regular shapes nearly uniform distributed in matrix. A clear interface between was observed. detailed analysis state show ultimate tensile strength Young’s modulus increased increasing weight percentage (wt%) matrix, but Poisson’s ratio decreased increase wt%. up to 10.8% 3.2% wt%, compared alloy. With particle yield at first (when wt% is less than 1%) then increased, while elongation percent reduction area decreased. Furthermore, heat treatment can refine grain effectively improve composites.
